Wicked rattling...

Just bought an '89 Iroc Convertible. So is the typical of the convertibles? A lot of noise coming from the doors. Are there typical things to look for that come loose that just need to be bolted/fastened down? Thanks!

Re: Wicked rattling...

Hello Steve,There's some great tech articles on this exact subject.
Anything can come loose Anytime depending on how well the cars been looked after.
All you can really do is investigate and tighten. Than you'll have a better idea what your car truly needs. Sorry i cant give you anything more definitive.
Since your not sure what it is "EXACTLY!" that's rattling & driving you nutsy good luck
Seek n destroy the annoyance....lol fasteners usually break if your not careful pulling off your panels during your search. I can only suggest you buy replacements before you even begin.

Re: Wicked rattling...

my passenger door was rattleing really bad. turned out what fixed it was that the door was missing one of the rubber bumpers. there's two per door and about an inch long with two "holes" in them. replaced it with a new one (ordered from the dealership in packs of 10) and rattle went away. - just my experience, yours may be completely different.

Re: Wicked rattling...

Also these side view mirrors rattle some. If you take the door panel off and run the car you may get lucky enough to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Sometimes having your windows in different positions change the rattles too. Ex: all the way down or all the way up or halfway. May indicate some play somewhere.

I found the easiest solution is to turn the radio up.

Re: Wicked rattling...

You can put spacers behind the rubber bumpers in the doors untill you get new ones. Mine makes noise too and I keep putting paper and metal shims behind it.
