Daul Fans!! Problem!!

92 z28. Fans not working. Checked both plugs with an ohm meter and shows no power. Ive replaced the relay! still nothing! Ive replaced ECM! Still nothing! Usually when you check for codes the fan kickes on. They still dont kick on. When I turn on the AC the fans still not working! How do I get power to the plugs that plug in the fans. It was working fine before. This a typical fan problem for 3rd gen camaros. I still havent changed the fan switch on the passenger side head. But would that effect the reasoning why neither plug is getting power? Would this problem be occuring in the AC unit?
Ive tried to narrow it down. Please help if you have a possible answer! Ive read my *** off looking. Thanks

could you just run the fans in relay (together)` to the relay at the firewall?
I did that so the fans automatically kick on when the car starts.

It sounds like a problem with the fan relay(s) or as simple as a broken ground.Were both fans working then both quit at the same time?The reason i ask this is have you tested the motors themselves.

The fans work fine. I ran some power to the fans and checked. The problem is that fans arent getting power. if its as simple as a bad ground, where could that be? If the relay is working,how could it be a relay problem? I could run the fans from the relay, but the point is trying to get back the way it was. Ive taken the relay off and put on a brand new one. Ive even tested the plug with a ohm meter. It shows 12 volts. This is a pain in my ***. The question is why isnt there power? Ive checked fuses, relay, ecm, and codes. Im still trying! Help is still needed! Thanks!

1) check your relay and ensure that there is a constant 12 volt source of power to it, should be on a #12 or 10 wire, constant hot. This may be the lead you checked with your Ohm (I mean voltage) meter?

2) the relay should pass power to the fans when it receives a 12 volt, ignition on, control voltage (on a smaller wire) and when the other smaller lead is grounded. This ground lead is the one that the fan switch and A/C switch grounds. So make sure the relay is also seeing 12 volts on this control voltage lead when the ignition is on.

3) if you're good on 1 and 2 try a jumper wire from the relay ground (sensor) lead to a chassis ground (with ignition on) and the fan power wire from the relay should pass 12 volts (and hopefully your fans come on). If it's showing 12 volts and the fans aren't coming on your problem is downstream of the relay. If it's not showing 12 volts and everything else is right, then it's your relay.

I'd give you wire colors and positions but they seem to change with different years and the wiring diagrams are a little generic.

Oh, you can test the fan temp switch circuit by pulling the lead and jumping it to a chassis ground with engine running (or just ignition on). This still won't tell you if the switch is good and just not hot enough yet, though.

The plug has 4 slots for the relay. I checked all four and only three have power, so im assuming the last one is the ground. Ill double check with your info youve graciously donated. Thanks. Now I just have to figure out the colors. Ill try it and get back with my results. Why would this all the sudden cut off power to the fans anyway? I hope that fixes it! Like I said its a pain in the ***.

Only two of the plugs should have power with ignition on (only one should have constant power when ign is off). One of the larger ones is the wire providing power from the relay to the fan motor and should have no power on it with the plug removed. The ground lead should show continuity to the wire connected to the fan switch on pass cyl head.

Thanks gentlemen the info you provided was helpful. It was the relay. I just unpluged them all and pluged them back in and they kicked on. Strange but its all good now. Ill be back.....
