Engine temp and Air conditioner

I saw a nice 86 T/A, 5.0 ,TPI, today and took it for a test drive. The air conditioner needs charging but my question is, How hot does your engine get when the air is on and you are sitting in traffic? This one was getting up to about 235 or so while air on and parked running waiting for a train to go by it may have gone higher but the train ended and I got moving again. Otherwise it ran at 210/220.

Re: Engine temp and Air conditioner

Mine has always done that. I replaced the radiator and running the air increases the temp. I think the only way to solve the problem is to buy a really good radiator or change the AC Evaporator, but i'm not expert. I originally thought it had something to do with the amount of coolant in the AC, which can cause overheating... if close to the threshold, it wasn't. Over filling, under filling... nothing, same problem.
