Aftermarket Intakes

Hey, just wondering who has put an aftermarket intake on their car, if so, what type and did you notice a power difference? Post pictures if you want.

Re: Aftermarket Intakes

Like cold air intake? I did one on my car. stock TPI with gutted stock MAF to a 3.5" custom air intake with custom 3.5" MAF and didnt pick up anything. I got the tune back close to the previous dyno tune, and still ran same ET's.

This was a pretty stout 383

Re: Aftermarket Intakes

i have hsr slp headers gutted cat air foil granateli mass air prom chip injectors and every thing but the heads and cam dynoed last week 240hp 300tq i was disapionted the guy that had the dyno said he was surprised at my numbers that they were the highiest yet for a gta so far. i was confused and asked why he said that tpi cars cams and heads only flow to like 4800rpm and then fall on thier face so as long as ur running stock heads and cam ur not going to get over 250hp to the wheels

That is the exact information that I gleaned from reading this board. Not much you can really do to increase performance ... with just airflow. That is the reason I have decided to just enjoy my stock 87 TPI 5.7 as it came from the factory.

For the money required to make mine breath better, I could have a nice downpayment on a used BMW that would turn out better numbers.

Enjoy the thirdgens, but they are not simple bolt-on-then-go-fast cars.

Re: Aftermarket Intakes

I'm not sure what this thread is about now, but dont underestimate a good bolt on L98. You can make over 250whp with full bolt ons and thats good enough to touch high 12's. Its been done before

Re: Aftermarket Intakes

My almost stock GTA beat an 08 5 series. Nevermind w/ highly ported intake, headers, roller rockers, msd ignition.
I'd rather have a good sounding car that chicks love to ride in vs some stupid bmw with tinted windows that posers and wankers drive.
