Aluminum Radiator leaks...help
My $$$ radiator started leaking. Can't tell exactly where so a mechanic friend let me borrow his pressure tester and told me that when I put pressure to it I should see a stream of water coming out, mark that spot and he will get it welded. Well when I pressurize it no water comes out but I here air leak. It has been dripping while the car is parked and hasn't been driven in a week, that's when I noticed the leak. I can't find the spot...what the crap am I supposed to do now. Whats worse is I was searching the boards and read an old thread about someone having electrolosis and eating several radiators now I am getting really worried. Can I use some of that stop leak stuff or am I out all that money for this radiator?

it you cant sleep over it..take it out..take it to a Radiator shop.
they will test it under water.. for free.. and you can pay them to Fix it.
$40?
yes you can use some stop leak to see if that will work for you.
but remember: it a temp thing..
just before you take it to a shop..buy some screw in freez plugs($4) to seal up the Hose Holes. pump it up to 14psi and see if you can see the hole/s your self

This might suggest that the leak is up high on your rad since your hearing air coming hissing out. I would top off the rad and try the test again. I would also take the time to make sure that the hoses are nice and tight.

I had it out but put it back in to try to pressure test it. I got my multimeter ou to test for electrolosys. Never checked for this before but that may be the issue. I gotta figure out how to fix that. I don't have any knowledge on this.

Does your friend have the dye to put in the rad?
Basically, it gets poured in, the car is driven // run til it reaches norm temp, then you put on certain yellow glasses, use a special ( uv or infrared?? ) light, and where ever there is even a trace of leak, it will have a distinct color.
There is a thing that can be attached to the rad cap that attracts the stuff that causes eletralysis (sp?) so aluminum doesn't erode. Local auto store may have it, or Summit & Jegs.
