Lower Air Dam

When i bought my 86 Firebird Base the lower air dam was all messed up and looked pretty bad hanging down under the car, so i took it off, not knowing that they were a key part to the cooling on 3rth gens. So doesn anyone know where i can get a replacement? Pics of your installed ones would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Re: Lower Air Dam

The air dam is actually comprised of several pieces. I assume you want the deflector that looks oh so nice and drags on everything making it sound like your ripping the nose off the car all the time. Here's one:

EDIT: oops, wrong years I'll look for another one.
EDIT2: This should be the right part. Better hurry, only 23 days to go.

Re: Lower Air Dam

It's really easy to do it your self with some sheet metal. When I bought my GTA from a so called Pontiac doc it even didn't had a air dam. Finding such parts here in Switzerland is not easy and if yes they are damaged from the things AFREMONT mentioned :-)

I fabricated it that way

I used a lot of screws, even more than on the pic. Took it during install. Because it is metal i wanted to secure it enough so that it never could fall down and harm someone behind me. Plastic would be better but we have lots of speedbumbs and steep driveways where I hit the ground sometimes, but hey, I have to use the GTA because I can't use my Alfa 75 because it's too deep :-) Metal will last longer.... hopefully, hehe

Re: Lower Air Dam

You basically have 2 types. 1.) First design and it makes a complete "V" shape from fender to fender to 1 piece. It is pretty flexible. 2.) The revised 2nd design. It's 3 pieces a straight piece under the radiator and 2 side pieces.

Different site with different pictures.

I think I still have the GM install sheet for the 3 piece one I can post it later if you want.
