I know these cars run hot and it was about 100 degrees yesterday, but is this a normal temp for stop and go traffic with the ac on full blast? Last year with NO fan switch, no ac and 195tstat, the car never got any higher than 220. Now with a 180 tstat, 195on 180off fan switch and ac on full blast it goes to about 230? This cant be right?

100 degree weather around town and Air on max,I would say it's normal with those conditions, but I wouldn't run it like that to long, turn the air off until it cools down.

Re: Is this normal? Coolant temp with ac on.

Sounds about right.

The factory fan switch doesn't even let the fan COME ON until it reaches 235°. IOW, in the minds of the factory engineers, the engine DOESN'T EVEN NEED COOLING AT ALL until that temp. Now, I don't mean to imply that the people who DESIGNED the car actually know ANYTHING at all about what it's supposed to work like; but still...

Sounds like you're good to go.
