Heater hoses question

We have an 87 GTA. The car has a "heater control valve" above the passenger side valve cover.

My question is, can I eliminate the control valve and just run the heater core lines straight to the water pump / intake connection point and the other line to the radiator connection point ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Heater hoses question

Yes. The supply side is the intake manifold. The return is either the water pump OR the radiator.

I will need to double check but I believe there's a fitting on the intake and for sure there's a fitting on the radiator.

Re: Heater hoses question

You need a "return" from the heater core. Without a fitting in the radiator, as-is, your choices are: 1) Have a fitting drilled and welded into the radiator tank. 2) remove plug and use (one of?) the water pump fittings. 3) Find a T fitting* and return it into one of the main radiator hoses.

* something like this or this or this.

Re: Heater hoses question

So driver side port on heater core goes to radiator after t off for oil cooler?
Passenger port line goes to intake manifold and t off to other side of oil cooler.
