previous owner cooling fan hack

Hello everyone! I bought this poor old 91 firebird with a 305 TBI an a 5sp red from the GM dealership I'm a service writer at an I'm trying to figure out some wiring with the cooling fan issues. I'm always busy with customers at work I never get the chance to talk go one of my techs about this.

Story is the previous owner some kid an his dad said the fan wouldn't come on an she was getting hot. Well the hacked off ALLL the cooling fan relay pigtails that sit on the passenger side of the radiator an all an just hard wire the fan to the battery.

Come to realize actually when they replaced the starter they pulled the connection off the cooling fan switch an no wonder it wouldn't turn on.

So here's where I'm at. The car got hot today (about 225deg I hope she's okay but she seems fine) because I was in stop an go traffic heading to work an it took longer go get there an had nowhere to pull over to turn the fans on.

I need to get these darn things together so she will cool down. Which of the 2 wires that were apart of the cooling fan pigtails go where? An where can I get some pigtails also?

Thanks guys

Do you have a single fan or dual fan? I"m assuming by your wording that you have dual fans.

1. Put new pigtails on the fan wiring at the fans. This will tie them back into the system. Just make sure you get them wired right or they'll spin backwards.
2. You have two relays (Camaro correct?). One by the battery and one to the right of the brake booster on the firewall.
3. The first fan will turn on when the ECM registers 225*. The fan switch in the passenger side head will turn the second fan on at 238*.
4. With everything hooked up, both fans should turn on when you turn the AC on.

Get the wiring hooked back up and we can go from there as to what to do next if they don't turn on. There are several tests that can be done to see where else in the wiring there may be an issue.

Actually man I have a firebird with the single fan actually. I'm sorry for not clarifying that earlier it's my fault.

Then you have one switch in the passenger side head just forward of tje dip stick and one relay on the firewall just to the right of the brake booster.
