sending unit type
Hey guys, just got the car back from the dyno and getting the xfi tuned. the guy at the shop told me that i have the wrong type of fuel pump installed in the car. I have a inline pump. He told me that i need to but a pump in the tank and that the pump i have isnt meant to feed the gas off the top of the tank. Question that i have is what type of sending unit do i need and do i need to replace the tank as well. the car is an 86 that was carb'd before i went to injection. Just want to make sure before i order anything. Thanks

Re: sending unit type
If the inline pump is lower then the tank it will work. It isn't the best way to do it, but works. Heck, I had one mounted in-line in the engine compartment and it worked.
For the best set up get a '91 or '92 tank from any 3rd gen (TBI, MPFI, or TPI). This will be, if it is the original tank, baffled and with a in-tank pump hanger & sending unit.

Re: sending unit type
thanks rbob and yet the pump sits lower then the tank. The car was running out of fuel while it was on the dyno. Ill look into the tank for the 91-92
