TunerPro Free and RT version 3.07 Now Available!

Hi guys -

Finally, after almost 3 months of downtime (including a 2-3 week break from programming), I've finally released 3.07. This will be the last release before version 4.0 (as long as there are no major issues needing immediate fixing in 3.07). I've got a huge list of cool stuff to add to 4.0 (including Prominator support and a number of other surprises), and I expect there to be quite a gap between the release of 3.07 and 4.0 (maybe a few months), but I think you'll understand when you see the result. Your support is *always* appreciated.

That said, here we go! http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/

PS - For those of you using AutoProm or Flash And Burn, Craig will be releasing a new firmware version (2.2, I believe) later this week. You'll want to grab this and update your hardware. Its not completely necessary, but highly, highly recommended.

Whats new in this version?

TunerPro Free

- Completely new and feature-rich Hex editor, with a "professional" editor interface. Items corresponding to the current cursor position in the Hex editor are highlighted in the item lists (including summary lists). Bytes can be viewed as Hex, Octal, Decimal, or Binary. Offsets (addresses) can be viewed in Hex or Decimal. The editor can be fit to the window (to do away with the horizontal scroll bar). Unlimited undo history. And more! Enjoy!
- Added an adjustment slider in the Item Summary List when a constant or flag is selected. This makes it much easier to use the summary list as your main editing window.
- Extended the opening splash screen to show the full version number and info on operations being performed (in RT with hardware detection, for isntance)
- Fixed issue where closing 3D chart did not close corresponding 3D graph if there was more than one graph window open. This was also a potential crash if the user were to drag a node in the graph when the corresponding chart was closed. No longer an issue.
- Now graphs are only updated if the chart that is changed and the graph that is showing match. This fixes a few issues.
- Fixed 3D graph watermark. 3D graphs now display the TunerPro version watermark like 2D graphs do.
- Made main and summary lists appear active (before they appeared inactive)
- Fixed "Website" menu item in the help menu. It now launches the web site as it should.
- Fixed some issues with open recent bin and open recent ECU (including no verification for saving modified bin/ECU).

TunerPro RT

- Completely changed the internal datastructure of .ads files. No user impact (you should notice no change). If you find bugs, let me know. This was a major undertaking and is in preparation for a large number of upcoming features (in version 4.0).
- Added the ability to create lookup tables in Datastream Defs. This is most useful for defining such things as the Manifold Air Temp tables. The included 6E and $8D definition have examples.
- The emulation toolbox was greatly simplified (with hardware auto-detect). Progress bar and operation status is now found in the main TunerPro status bar.
- Added auto emulation update (when emulating and the option is enabled) when the mouse is released after sliding the slider in the constant editor or item summary list (another new feature!). This also occurs when a point on a graph is released.
- Added improved support for AutoProm USB features, including high speed operation (4X that of the serial AutoProm).
- added "cancel operation" to Prom I/O tool. Reads/writes/verification can be cancelled in the middle of the operation.
- Added hardware auto-detect. If selected, hardware (Romulator, AutoProm Serial, AutoProm USB, Flash & Burn) is auto-detected when launching the application or when selected from the tools menu. There is no longer a need to specify emulation hardware information. Hardware and port information is now automatically detected.
- Added hardware information to the status bar. This also allows for a smaller emulation toolbox.
- Status bar flashes to indicate success/failure state with regard to emulator I/O operations.
- Reduced flicker issue (slightly) in the second column of the ALDL Data and Bit tabs.
- Fixed minor issue with RamToFile function (emulation)
- Fixed some PROM I/O bugs (various useability issues)
- Fixed issue with checksum disable on emulator upload. This was not working.
- Fixed issue with checksum disable on emulator upload setting not being saved (it was always enabled, even after an attempt to disable).

Hi Mark,
When you add the support of the PROMinator will be possible to see witch bin file is loaded in witch position of the Rotary DIP switch?

I can’t recall witch bin was loaded at witch position.
I hope that this is not too much work for you. Maybe Bill and Ken will help you.

Thanks in advance.

Seems reasonable. I've got a few prominator hills to overtake before I get to planning in that stage. =)

Works great thus far on Win 98SE. I have been using it all morning to burn and emulate. I haven't tried ALDL/logging yet because I think my definition is still a bit wrong. The emulator is a good bit simpler to use.
Thanks, Mangus! Can't wait for v4.0.

I was stopped by a long *** train today so I decided to fire up Datamaster instead of TunerPro. I noticed right off the bat that the load is approx 10kPa higher in Datamaster and I actually have a working TPS%, which has always been wrong for me with TunerPro.

I'm going to start up a fresh chip to see if I can actually eliminate my knock counts and spark knock now, which I've been having problems with from the beginning.

Is this just limited to my system or are other people having the same issues? My TPS and MAP sensors are new and the TPS is set correctly BTW.

Ok mark, where do I send the 12 pack? You deserve it!

That hex editor is awesome! I could never understand what was going on with one before, but the way you have it set up is just awesome! Thanks!!!

you guys having accuracy issues with data logging need to edit the ads file to be correct, thats all.

i have neither a $8D or $58 vehicle and therefore cannot test these. they're provided as a template.

dig in and make them right. please!

this isn't a software issue, its a definition issue.

Would the ALDL datalink definition file available from your downloads page "1228746-160" baud which is listed for a 1990 350V8 need much amendment before it could be used on a 1991 305 V8 Firebird with a 1228746 - 160baud ecu ?

If so any pointers on where to start.

Jeepguy how did you go about creating your definition ?
did you somehow capture the raw data then monitor what changed like moving the throttle pedal to check for tps changes ?

My definition is flawed and doesn't work for some reason. If you can modify it and make it work, by all means do so and let me know how you do it. All I did was get a copy of the ALDL Stuff ZIP from DIY-EFI.org. I figured out which datastream I needed by using the index and then I copied it into the definition editor in TunerPro. It doesn't work.

there is an ads file on the tunerpro site which i tried today and it partially works, there is a copy on the moates fileshare area as well.

i am going to try and mod some of that. or stick with winaldl...

I just got a rs232 to USB convertor so now i can log with that (it worked ok with winaldl set as com port3 ) and use the romulator on com 1. before the chopping cables was a pain.

Tunerpro having it all in 1 would be good but at the mo its just above me.

i am checking against the a083.ds file and the tunerpro hosted ads has matched up so far.

the WORD number in the ads file does seem to correspond directly to the BYTE no in tunerpro and i presume it is 8 bit.
The "operation" maths all seem to match as well.....

hhhmmmmmm will give it another go later.

You are seeing the same problem I was having...that and the packet errors. There is something screwy going on with that ADS and my computer that is in someway related to that ADS file.

i do not get any packet errors.

i get readings for all the various sensors but they just seem a bit flaky compared to winaldl. eg battery volts suddenly dropping to 5v.
The TPS does go through the full range when i depress the throttle but i seem to get random values just appearing every few secs.

the only time i got packet errors was when i did the timing and forgot to reconnect the est bypass wire, then i got mega-packet errors.

i tried it as 16bit so 1 word = 2 bytes and recalced all the byte nos etc but its still the same, just not as robust as winaldl.

There is a 160 baud "hiccup" that i noticed that happens every 5 or 10 seconds where you'll notice a single erratic sample progress down the byte stream (starting with offset 1 and moving down the stream). I will fix that for 4.0. Other than that, if you're getting strange data, you should make sure you're doing the correct calculation on each byte.
