Moates ALDU1 + CABL1 not connecting?
I am not sure where exactly to post this, but my guess this place may retrieve the most responses.
Yesterday I was able to data log my car fine, no problems. Its been this way for months now. Today I went through the normal routine of getting everything ready, but now it won't connect to my car at all.
Datamaster says the adapter is ok, but it cannot connect to the PCM. I tried every setting that I know of to get it to work, but I get absolutuly nothing. Is there a way to test the cable so I know its working properly? I have a feeling that the ALDU1 is dead.
This is driving me crazy. It feels like I am locked out of my car and I am lost in some sort of dark hole. I think I am getting clastrophobic now..
*hyperventilates*... breathe... breathe..

The horizontal switch MUST be away from the port connector to use DM.
Try it with TP (TunerPro) with the switch twards the port.
Try it with the "MAX" setting and use your std comm port to connect.
Then try with "Autoprom" setting to see if it still works.
Then you'll know if it got zapped or something.
The DM test routine only checks if THEIR hardware adapter is working IIRC. I don't think it's an accurrate test for the AP.

Horizontal switch? Mine is vertical.
Up = 10k
Middle = open
Down = short
It worked fine in the middle position up until now.
I will give it a shot with tunerpro. I attempted to make it work with Tunerpro RT, but it wouldn't connect at all. Although, I never really used that program before, so I was kind of confused on the settings.

Somthing to try if you havent already, if you are using tunerpro rt check the perferances and under ald there is interface type. This took me for a loop because it defaults to somthing that I don't use and it would not let me connect, but that was on initial start up only.
Right now I have a problem intializing attached hardware but only on my laptop not on my home pc, not related to hardware, going to check my drivers, was working though.
I probable was no help, hopfully the pros help you out.

With the ALDU1 connected to your PC, does the COM port show up in Hardware Manager? If not, that's the problem. Do you have any other devices installed that use a virtual serial port (like the ALDU1 does)?

I did not make it as far as driver trouble shooting. Laptop locked up and I pulled the battery and when I started back up I could connect again. This is a borrowed laptop from work that is know to have gliches. All is well again.
I have a feeling Sonar_un has bigger problems.

Much bigger problems.
I don't even think that the cable or laptop is the problem. In fact, I think both are working fine. It something seriously wrong with my car. It happened the next morning after I was fiddling with my cable.
I am not sure what it is yet, but its not pretty.
