91Z, yes. Goto www.moates.net and you'll find basically everything you need. You need to track down 2 files first (ecm mask) and specific .bin file your ecm uses. You'll then need to also get software to change the bin (ecm code). My software of choice is tunerpro and I also highly recommend paying to register it...that way it can be supported and developed into the future.

ALL this and more is covered in the stickies...read,read,read,read,read some more. I myself need to read, read, read some more too so don't get discouraged.

Re: Dont know if this is the right section but heres the?

If as you say the vehicle had Z rated tires from the factory the speed limiter should be set to 255 MPH (sometimes they are set to 254 MPH, doesn't make much of a difference).

What the speed limiter does is to set the injector PW to zero. So the engine stops making any power. As the vehicle falls below the fuel kill MPH threshold the injectors are turned back on. If the go-pedal is held to the floor the vehicle basically shuttles between the upper & lower MPH limits.

What is the BCC of the PROM you currently have in the car?

Re: Dont know if this is the right section but heres the?

BroadCast Code (BCC), This is the 3 or 4 letter code on the PROM. It is usually on the silver label. Othertimes they are printed right on the MEMCAL.

Drop the ECM down, pull the 2-screws and small cover. The BCC will be on the PROM or MEMCAL. An example would be AUJP.

Re: Dont know if this is the right section but heres the?

so i dont think i wanna even try messing with the ECU so i read the sticker on the inside of the door pannel an it said it had Z rated tires on it from the factory so dose that mean its speed limiter is set at 255?

Re: Dont know if this is the right section but heres the?

If the ECM still has the factory equip'd MEMCAL then there shouldn't be a limiter.

Which of course brings us full circle. If there isn't a limiter why do you feel as though there is one?

Re: Dont know if this is the right section but heres the?

how can i find out what BroadCast Code i had if i dont have the factory prom
it's a superchip prom, and about a week ago my 92 trans am starting running funny, loosing power, hesignating badly, took to a few shops and they saying my pass. side injectors is not working properly, this is when i found out it had a superchip in it, i was wondering if putting 87 gas in my car mess up the superchip, dont they call for 91 or higher gas
also what is a good chip only upgrades i know of is a k&n filter but maybe more do to it having a superchip already.

Re: Dont know if this is the right section but heres the?

an "upgrade" from your superchip would be replacing the stock memcal. all those after market "superchips" do is lie to the computer telling it you are always in super cold air, causing the ECM to run the car rich.

either do a real tune or go back to stock. hit the junkyards and find another car of the same year, with the same transmission, and the same engine and you should be good to go. the best thing would be to match the BCC numbers to what you should have had. I'd like to tell you how to do that, but I'm a newb to tuning.

When you hit the rev limiter, it will die like the key is shut off, and not restart till below the fuel cut in mph. Most avg cars/trucks are set at 100 mph or so.

If you were accelerating when going into fuel cut off, the car can still speed way past the limit and coast back down to restart. There is also a rpm limiter too, my truck is set at 5000 rpm/100 mph, My vette is 10000 rpm/255 mph.

I would check for a plugged air/fuel filter or Cat/muffler, if it was my car.
