Can't data log with TunerPro RT and Autoprom, I need some input.
I'm new to posting in this section but I have been reading threads for weeks in preperation to start tuning. I just got an Autoprom kit from Moates.net and I installed tunerpro RT and the USB driver on my laptop but I can't get it to data log. I have the inner of the two switches switched to the inside for 10k resistance since I have a 1989 Trans Am with the 165 ecm, and the outer switch is to the outside. I can connect it to the ecm and it recognizes the hardware but whenever I try to see any data nothing happens. If I am in the setup page the error counter at the top right just keeps climbing so I thought maybe there was a problem with my aldl connector in the car but I tested it and I have power where it should be and a good ecm ground. Ive been searching threads but I haven't been able to find a solution that works. I have not installed anything physical in the ecm yet and I have not loaded my current chips info on to autoprom but I shouldn't have to in order to just data log at this time. Also, where you have the 3 boxes on the left labeled "constants, Flags, and Tables" the boxes are there but they are blank with no options. At the bottom of the page where it says emulating or not emulating then it says connected USB then the next box always says "Not Ready". I'm sorry this is so long winded but I hope somebody has an idea. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Have you loaded the appropriate .xdf file for your setup? Sounds like you'll need the $6E file.
This should get you started

Thanks KurtAKX
I did not have the xdf file loaded. I loaded the xdf file now and I have all of the options on the left for consants/flags/tables, but I still cant log any data. When I am in aldl setup you can go into edit aldl datastream definition and click 160 baud and then I click begin monitoring and the error counter keeps climbing. If I unclick 160 baud the button that said begin monitoring now says connect ecm and nothing happens when I click it and the aldl stays "not connected" at the bottom of the screen. Should I be on 160 baud or not? Also under aldl setup under the definition file when you click browse it gives me 2 option 1 is 1227165-160baud and the other is 1227165_6e, they both act the same way as stated above. Which of these 2 options should I be using?

Ok, I emailed Mark Mansur and he said to use the 6e definition and not the 160 baud. When I click connect to ecm I get nothing. I am running 6E.xdf and 1227165_6E.ads from tunerpro.net. Everything seems to be hooked up correctly and the auto prom is in 10k mode and bypass mode on the second switch. Any body have any ideas?

Just went through this.
In hte 4.XX version of tunerpro, there is a place to select what COM port it should look at to see the cable. You need to look at the devices loaded on your machine when the cable is plugged in and figure out what com the cable is loaded at...then match that up in tunerpro.
This is what was fubaring me on my Ostrich 1.0 and Xtreme ALDL I just bought from Craig. Works like a dream now.

Re: Can't data log with TunerPro RT and Autoprom, I need some input.
Thanks for the info but I actually just found the problem. On the videos on moates.net it says to have the second switch on the autoprom in bypass mode, so that is how I had it setup. In the help section on tunerpro rt it says to have it switched the other way, so I flipped the switch and it works. Also with the autoprom it automatically finds the correct COM port. When you are in the preferances there is a selction for autoprom that takes car on this for you.

I have an 86 iroc with a similar problem, but when it datalogs it just shuts off all of a sudden and does not detect aldl... I can datalog for approximately 10-15 seconds and then it just stops being connected. I have the AUTOPROM with tunerpro rt 4.14. Both switches are pushed to the inside and my laptop is a brand new acer with windows 7 (I am assuming they are usb 2,0 ports).
I also have a question: is it possible to take the bin from the chip that is currently in the ECM right now without physically removing it and putting it on the autoprom? Like, say for example reading the bin through the aldl cable?
Thanks!
