Car: 1988 Iroc-Z Red T-tops
Engine: 305 TPI LB9 55k miles
Transmission: Auto 700r4
Axle/Gears: 2.73 posi
Remove Knock Retard test PE or False Tranny?
I have been having the same retard around the 2400 rpm in the 112-196 range.
I have added and taken fuel and have 128 all around (non-pe) and even with PE disabled I have 127-128 range in the Maf3-4 tables.
Looking ta logs it appears that during the WOT or heavy stabs my tranny must slip it hits 3000rpm range before it locks. (can I test slip vs tcc to confirm if bad tranny?) it doesn't bang or seem to clam but it is lot of RPM and noise with no load. I can see the LV8 tip in the log then the spike occurs just before the dip in the load
it tapers off usually by 3600 i have a little spike at 208lv8 but I haven't played with fuel or spark here yet
I am going to reduce spark retard to almost 0. I already have spark down to 22-19 between 176-208 and 27-25 in the 124-144 range. I do notice that the car pulls and has torque and no knock in the 80-112 range with 33-36 degrees so I left alone (maybe that causes the knock when it drops to 25 at 112 range)

Probably false. My 305 does it. Took timing down to 20 at wot and still pulls 8-9 deg. So i disabled it, made a pull at 32 deg and felt better. I think these things get overly sensitive. But i need to check the plugs too to be sure

Yes no matter how low I go and how much fuel I add (to where it bogs and farts gas) I still get 1-3 degrees knock. I am doing short runs like 5 minutes and short WOT stabs I think it will be safe to hit it without retard on.
So how did u disable the KR? Zero out the 1 ESC attack table and set the ESC recovery to 100%?
I notice at mid throttle the car pulls much stronger with the 30-35 degree range and no knock. maybe a blip at 112 less then 1 degree. Again I think it is tranny noise

Something like that. On 8D there is a knock retard degrees in PE and knock retard not in PE table. I just made it pull 1 deg but you can make it 0. I left attack rate there but cut values in half. Upped the recovery rate about 25%.
6E and 32b i believe have tables like that. Been awhile since i been in maf. I did that in my 383 car, i made the pe knock retard 1-2 deg but that car rarely saw any retard. On heavy trans downshift and converter unlock it would see a minor instance but that was about it. This 305 car i have is ridiculous at wot. No way is it detonating under 20 deg and 93 oct

Got it. Missed that table. Yes I lowered to 0 up to 2000 and 1 the rest for both and left the ESC alone. I already lowered them. Curious to see what car does now.
