ECM/PROM/Diagnostic for iPad?

I see there's a ton of OBD2's for iPad, but those won't work on a thirdgen will they? I might get one of those for my 4th gen Camaro and 07 Mustang, but what's the thirdgen equivalent? I'm not seeing anything on eBay. Please name and/or suggest/post eBay link if possible. I know it has to exist. It'd be nice to have something that monitors engine codes, sensors, fuel pressure, temp, oil pressure, monitor performance while driving etc., without costing a mint. The OBD2 version of that on eBay is about $89. There are others that are more, but there was one that offered this for that price. I don't know that it allowed you to change settings on the ECM, but it did at least monitor.

Here's the link.

Re: ECM/PROM/Diagnostic for iPad?

Our 3rd gens are OBD-I, so the ODB-II stuff won't work with them. The reason there is a lot of OBD-II monitors is that the data stream is standard across nearly all vehicles. This is part of the ODB-II mandate.

Prior to that the ALDL data streams varied greatly.

RBob.

Yeah, I know that, but what product is there on the market that will do for us what that odb2 does for my 4th gen? Does nothing exist?

So there's nothing in the entire universe that will connect 1992 ALDL to an iPad?

I have an iPad 2 coming to me soon and I have looked into this. Basically you will need to create a virtual drive on your iPad to run windows. They also make a few diff software programs that will do this for you.
You will still need to use it via usb though.

Re: ECM/PROM/Diagnostic for iPad?

IPads don't use USB. However, there are many millions of iPads, Minis and iPhones out there. The question is how many people would pay at least something for an app like this.
I know I would. Likely use BT or WiFi to connect. Wonder if Mangus would be interested in porting TPRT over to the iOS platform?
My buddy =Jeff= brought over ALDLDroid the other day and we connected to my LT-5. Truly would like to dump the laptop-cable setup.

In combination with a virtual drive should allow you to wireless program your truck....

I should be getting my ipad2 here soon, and by nextweekend should I have the truck running right I hope to do some VE learns and small testing with a wireless set up..

I have an ipad2 also, but don't know how to do that. I'll have to look into it. I ordered an elm327 and downloaded dash command last night. It will be very cool for my 4th gen Camaro and my 07 Mustang, but I hate it that it won't work on my 92 Formula--that's the one I'd really like to have this for!
