fuel pump relay connector
Ok small problem I spotted today. I noticed that the wires going into the connector to the fuel pump relay were exposed. Ok no problem, I thought i could just push the sheathing up or just repin the wires in the connector. So I disconnect the relay & see that the connector is kinda burnt & melted. Now I wanna replace the connector. So my question is, who sells these connectors along with new pins?

They are all like that, don't know why. From the socket they are bare about a half to a quarter of an inch. I just covered them with dielectric grease. Try www.acdelco.com they have a good list of all replacement parts. tried to get the # for you but the server was down.

Ok I thought maybe I did this by pulling too hard on the wires. Weird that other people have this too. I'll post a pic later to show everyone what I mean.

For the record, mine show a bit of bare wire there also. I'm sure it would be a good idea to work on that to make sure I won't have any come loose. Now, where did I put that motivation?

I had that same problem on my fuel pump relay connector also. Scared the living heck out of me when it blew the 20 AMP fuse under the hood and made me think I was going to have to replace the pump again. Fortunately, I found the fuse before I dropped the tank. I wrapped electrical tape around the each wire until I could get new pins.

Hey Trickster. Where did you get your new pins from? Or do you have a p/n for them? Also, do you know where I can get the plastic connector also. Junkyards are limited here in Hawaii so I'd rather get all those items new.

Axle/Gears: ?
if the relay used for the fuel pump is a standard 4 or 5 pin relay, u should be able to buy a whole new relay that comes with the socket and wire ends for under 15 dollars

Hey AcescarrsRS,
I happened to be in peppy boys one day and they had two packs of them hidden behind some other stuff. They didn't stay there more than five seconds after I saw them. I have about four of the plastic connectors laying around my shop. I also have some of them with wires about six inches long and good pins.

Yea, turns out they aren't burnt. Just had a lot of gunk on them. I cleaned it all up & I still feel that those exposed wires are kinda spooky. I'll decide what to do about that tomorrow.
