re wiring an exhaust cutout! need major help!

i got my electric cutout yesterday. well in order to install the switch u have to pull off 6 clips on the bottum of the switch. well the last one the prong on the bottum of the switch pulled right out. the switch is broken. i have been EVERYWHERE! nobody has a 6 prong rocker switch. so either where can i get one or how can i wire it up to make it work on a normal switch? it comes from a fused 12 volt source to number 1 prong, then the same wire is ran to the number 6 prong, then the ground is number 4 and number 3 and then the wires to the motor are in the middle. so basically i think i have to run power through it both ways to get it to open and close. how do i do this? i dotn wanna wait a week and pay 10 bucks for another switch. any help would be great! thanks alot

Judging by your wiring description it sounds like you have a Mccord Powerplate. I just got mine yesterday, I opted to go without a switch becuase i wanted to buy one that matches my interior and other switches i have added. You need to find a DPDT switch, dosn't have to be a rocker switch, could be a toggle switch. You could also wire up 2 SPST rocker switches if you can't find any switches you need. One to open, one to close. Have you tried radio shack and little automotive stores. The small local stores around here have a better selection of switches the chain ones like Pep Boys or Autozone.

i looked everywhere. radioshack, autozone, pep boys, advance auto, and all the little unknown places. nothing. i went into carquest and asked and they had a book of just classic car window switches and stuff so i found an old 6 prong one that is like in the older style monte's and stuff like that so i can just put it in my console and i think it should work.

You can order one online if you'd like. If you do a search you will find thousands of switches that you can choose from. I actually need to order mine tonight. I'll link you later when i find the switch i need.
