Need Hlp diagnosing ignition.

My car is running but not well. It has almost no power, no matter what I do with the throttle. If load on the engine increases (a hill for instance) it will start to misfire.

With the car running I've checked Fuel pump voltage and pressure. Both are good. 12.5v and 48 psi at idle. I've replaced the FP relay and fuel filter already.

Charging system is good, just replaced the alt and batt a few months ago.

So now I'm thinking ignition. I tried replacing the ignition module. It helped very little. Im going to get some new plug wires and a cap/rotor today to see if that will help. I pulled a plug, and it looked ok. It wasnt white or corroded much. It did seem a little wet, which made me think fuel but no spark.

I'm just using a basic HEI system. How do I make sure I'm getting proper voltage to my coil? How do I check if the coil is bad? Are there any common problem spots I should check?
Could it be something affecting timing? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Ben

Well you should get a timing light.
A sure fire

HAHhahHAH

way to see if your spark is going away when
you hit the loud pedal is with a scope
while you’re driving.
But for now to save ya $$$$$ you can
check to see if you’re gettin a strong
spark (while parked and you can have
a friend power brake it) by takin a new spark plug and
substituting it for one of the plugs that are
in the engine. If your
HEI is putting out enuff it won’t
matter how wide the gap. You’ll
see a strong spark on your test plug
Happy Racing!

If people drove any slower
they’d be going backwards.
