ESC module and ECU compatability (feedback carb stuff)
Will an electronic spark control module number 16128261 work with an engine control computer 1227169?
I am trying to put a 350 spark control module in a 1986 Firebird with the "old" computer, not the updated one (1228079) that came in 1987 & 88 F bodies, G bodies and ZZ swap kit.
Anyone done it?
Thanks!

I've got the answer (should anyone need to know in the future).
Yes.
Later year model cars 87+ that used the updated higher speed computers ( 1228079 ) with a 305 used the same 305 electronic spark control module that was used on earlier cars <86 with the earlier lower speed computers.
The 350 esc module was also used on things like a caprice, and TBI trucks and vans (with a 350) from 1987 to 1994. Incase you need to look in a JY.
Replaced the esc in my LG4 controlled 86 firebird (with the old style, low speed computer) with the 350 esc module and a 350 knock sensor, all works well.
Some additional trivia I suppose, the same 350 knock sensor was used on 4.3 liter V6 engines, wich have the same 4 inch bore as a 350. Which supports what others have said about the sensor being tuned to the harmonics of a specific bore diameter, or whatever.
