electic fans
My fans won't come on when my temp goes over 220 mark. If I shut the car off and then start it agian they will come on. Why is this?

Re: electic fans
I tried grounding out the relay with the green/white wire and nothing happened. So I direct wired the fan and nothing. I used a piece of wire and a test light. I completed the circut because when I touched the test light to the post on the batt the light came on. I hooked one to the - on the batt and hooked the other side to the + of the battery. Fan motor must be bad.
The ac is not charged enough to turn on. I don't have a blower motor in the car at all, this couldn't make the ac not come on?

If you direct wired your fan pos and neg to the battery and it didnt come on..... thats a gimmie..... yeah getcha new one... By the way if you dont have a blower motor on your car that wont have any affect on the A/C system actually coming on... The compressor will still pull in and the cooling fan will still operate... the evap core will just have no air flow and probably freeze up after a few minutes.....

The blower motor is good. I hard wired it to the batt and it blows fine. I tried grounding the relay and that didn't make the fans come on. I am guessing that means the relay is bad.

Re: electic fans
when the fans should turn on while the car is running check the black with red stripe wire after it goes out of relay to see if it have power, if it does then the fans are dead. Also check the orange wire that goes to the relay, it should have power all the time when ignition is on.

Re: electic fans
I was grounding the wrong relay, I grounded the correct one and the fans came on. So what else can I check to get the fans on.

Re: electic fans
You fans may be setup different than mine but I have two fans. The smaller one is computer control and the larger fan is controlled by a temp switch that screws into the passenger side head. You might want to check that switch in the head to make sure it is working. It is just one wire, I believe it just completes a ground.

You may also want to check the CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor) on the front of the engine, right under the TB. It has a two-wire connector. Check the connector for oxidation/corrosion, check the wires.
If you have an ohm-meter, measure the resistance of the CTS with the engine cold, warm and hot (write down the temp and measured resistance).
If the CTS is bad, the ECM won't know that your engine is hot and won't turn the fans on.
I'm not saying this is exactly what's wrong with your cooling fan circuit but it's one of the common problems to check for.

Re: electic fans
now the fans won't come on at all. I grounded the relay with a switch so I can turn them on when the temp gets near 220.
