i used to have this problem 2 years ago, after putting a new cd player in yesterday, the hot wire im using..(no idea where its from) is a hot wire coming from under the AC controls...(it arched) anyways, i used to have this problem and i used to know exactly what the problem was, i dont remember how to fix the problem... is there another fuse box under a kick panel? all the fuses under dash fuses are all good...

dome/door/headlights/gauges do not come on, period

My radio quit on the way home yesterday. When I opened the door a few hours later I realized the dome light, head lights, and gauge lights no longer work.

Like you I check all the fuses and I'm stumped.

Check inside the cig. lighter, my 91 RS had a dime jammed in it causing it to short out and killed the dome, under hood, and hatch release, im not sure, but just throwing it out there,

i had a recent weird elect. problem . cig. lighter did not work , int.& dome lites out . acc. fuse blown . new cig. liter element . everythings o.k. now . weird , maybe old element ??? i don't know .

and the plot thickens,

dome/ rear hatch / door lights....all work, but only if the light switch is pulled out...

a/c / blower.....dead.

clean or replace door sw. you shouldn't have to pull it out , should pop out on its own . clean with small brush and wd-40 . if that doesn't work r/r switch . then focus on blower problems . blower will not work right away with a/c till a/c comp. gets online . just re-cycle switch .

I remember a few weeks back when plugging in my phone charger I blew the fuse for my Cig. When it went it took the radio and dome light with it, but the head lights still worked, I know this for a fact because I was driving at night.

I checked all my fuses with an ohm meter last night and they are all ok.
I'm going to pull the ramps out tonight and check the fuseable link at the starter.

Before everything died my radio would reset in the afternoon like I had disconnected the battery. I assumed the power wire was shaking loose on the back of the head unit b/c I broke the clip when I put it back in last time.

update:

ok, i must have blown something, i didnt mess with any other wires, just the ones under the ac control..

key on:
radio works, gauge lights come on, ac doesnt come on, dome lights dont come on, courtesy lights dont come on, tail lights come on automatically, hatch switch doesnt work

everything works fine.

the "always power" slot on my fuse box has no juice..

is there another fuse panel anywhere on the chassis? all the fuses are good...but im getting nothing at all, no juice.. door locks, hatch,a/c,guages,dome,courtesy lights,

but all fuses are good...

That is what I am thinking. There are 3 of them near the starter. One feeds directly to the head light switch. I forget where the other two go.

I'm hoping to get under my car this weekend and check all of that out. I do remember smelling a burnt wire smell earlier in the week but I wrote off as a temp fix I had done on the exhaust system.

You ever get your electrical problems figured out?


I traced mine down to a broken ring terminal on the starter.

Only took me 2hrs to fix it, 15 min to crip a new end on it and a 1hr and 45 min to pick up all my tool out of the road after i for got to shut the tailgate.
