1989 305TBI Camaro Won't Start

I havea 1989 RS 305 Camaro.

The Specs. are:

1) Automatic with Overdrive
2) Air-Conditioning
3) Electronic Fuel Injection
4) Engine Type E
5) Throttle Body Injection
6) Has Pass-Key anti theft module and ECM

Many months ago, I installed a “kill” switch and after using it a few hundred times, the Electrical tape unwound. I should have replaced the tape immediately, but did not. One time, I turned the switch on, then placed it inside the dashboard, and it then hit metal, causing sparks, and then smoke. The car started for a few weeks, but then died.

I then did the following:

1) Replaced the Battery.
2) Replaced the Fusible Links and wiring that is located a few inches next to the Battery.
3) Replaced the Starter and Starter Solenoid.
4) Tested the Alternator and it is fine.
5) Replaced the Electronic Spark Control Module.
6) Replaced the Fuel Pump Relay.
7) Replaced the Ignition Control Module (located under the Distributor Cap).
8) Replaced the Ignition Switch and adjusted the Actuator Rod.
9) Replaced the Key Cylinder and Key with Chip.
10) Replaced the Pass-Key Module.
11) Replaced the Neutral Safety Switch.
12) Replaced the Electronic Control Module (ECM).
13) Replaced the Knock sensor.
14) Replaced the Anti-Theft Relay (located behind the Driver’s left kick panel; this is also called the Enable Relay).
15) Replaced the Oxygen sensor.

I can not get the Car started using the normal method of inserting the key. The Starter has to be “jumped.” I can also start the car if I take a wire, insert one end into the Orange wire that leads to the Driver’s side Accessory Light, insert the other end onto an exposed section of the Purple wire that leads to the “S” position of the Starter Solenoid, and then turn the key to the “on” position.

When I turn the key, there is only one clicking sound (it just clicks once, and does not repeat), and that’s it.

When installing the new ECM, I took the old Prom from the old ECM and installed it into the new ECM. Perhaps the old Prom is damaged. I also examined the printed circuit board that is on the back of the instrument cluster and noticed that one of the copper wires is broken. This wire leads to the temperature gauge. Can this prevent the car from starting? Several months ago, if I pressed my fist up against the dash board and turned the key, the car would start. This would only cause it to start once in a while. I removed most of the Electrical tape from the various wires of the wiring harness, and the wiring seems fine. I also used a Meter on some of the wiring, and it tested O.K.

Can anybody help me?

Check the prom. Does the security lite come on when it doesn't start? You didn't say what you used for the kill switch. Ignition, Fuel pump, etc. I also had an 89 T.B.I. 305 RS and had a similar problem. We took a computer with prom from a T.B.I 350 Chevy truck and it fixed the problem. Hope it helps. You can get a computer from one of these trucks in any junk yard in your area.

Ps don't worry about that wire on the instrument cluster my iroc is that way too and it hasn't affected anything.
