Trimming Wire Harness HELP!!
HEy guys, I have an 84 Trans AM. I have deleted all Climate control and Engine control. Engine is a straight up carbed 350 and there isn't even a heater. I want to remove the 10 miles of wire under the hood while preserving the interior controls (headlights, turn signals, cruise, etc.) Guages are auto meter and I have a harness for them.
My question, can I just cut the two main wire bundles coming out of the firewall? Can anyone tell me which color wire to keep? Any help would be appreciated before I turn everything on and cut wires one by one. Thanks!
-Dave

Re: Trimming Wire Harness HELP!!
Those are no problem, I'm mainly worried the headlight/signal wires are in the main bundle or cutting the power wire to the interior harness.

Re: Trimming Wire Harness HELP!!
i believe you can remove all of the harness on the pass. side (at conn. c100 i think), unless you a have manual trans in which case you will need to dig out the two wires for the back up lights. hope that helps

Re: Trimming Wire Harness HELP!!
the driverside harness has all the headlight/horn/turnsignal wires in it.
The passengerside can really be hacked up.
What is the car auto or manual?
there are wires from the passenger side for the lock-up, speedo sensor, backup light, if t5, and some others. The fan wiring is also spidered through them as well. the best way it to remove all the convoluted tubing and start tracing wires.

Re: Trimming Wire Harness HELP!!
Car is of course a manual, nothing I ever do is easy.....
Car is cable driven speedo, but I'm wiring in a VSS to use with my autometer speedo. Sounds like I need to print off a detailed wiring diagram. :/
