Ignition Module

Okay gentleman, here is the situation. I was driving and my car just sputtered and cut off. It started right back up but after sitting for an hour or so it will not start. During cranking I saw some flames shoot from the tbi unit. If I hold the gas pedal down it will start but die right off. My question is, will a bad ignition module cause this? I was able to pull codes and got code 43 (ESC unit failure). I tested the pick-up coil and it checked out fine. The only thing that I did not do was test for spark. Go figure. Any ideas?

Re: Ignition Module

What would cause the Electronic Spark Control Module to go bad? I have been doing research but cant find anything. The only thing that was done out of the ordinary was I left the key in the "run" position for like 10 minutes while I scanned the ECM. Any ideas? I dont want to spend $145 and that is not the issue.

Re: Ignition Module

most autoparts stores allow you to check ur ign module for free. so thats a good place to start that way u can be sure its either good or bad.
