External Ignition Coil Issues...

I recently bought an MSD Blaster - 2 coil (MSD-8202) canister style for my car, but it just won't fit. The car originally had a big cap HEI distributor with coil-in-cap, but I had to switch to a small cap distributor in order to clear the supercharger.

I was hoping to mount the coil on the pass. side of the distributor, but it's too big and interferes with the vacuum advance. I can't mount it on the intake because since I have a blower, it's just not your standard intake.

Looks like I'll need one of the smaller external coils, and I'm now looking at the E-core type of coils. I have these 3 in mind:
SUM-850500
PerTronix 60104
ACCEL 140008

All available at Summit Auto. Which would you get? Any other recommendations?

Re: External Ignition Coil Issues...

I know this isnt the aftermarket vendor review board, but FYI I`ve been through 3 of the smaller external msd blaster coils in the past 3 or 4 years.I dont know about the other ones you mentioned but the msd units seem to just die.Well one of them was arcing through a crack on the plug tower.I have seen people mount them under hood but if you`v`e got a s/c i`m sure realestate is at a premium. My stock one has never failed. If i go back to an aftermarket one I will keep my stock one in the trunk.
