dash wiring harness
im sure i will be running into a couple problems as i untangle this harness, especially with my so/so electronics experience. could anyone tell me what these are? they look to me like circuit breakers, but for what? i am removing the ac and heat and rewiring a new stereo system, and to make it easier on me im taking out all the lighting for the courtesy lights, and later ill put them in with a switch.

Re: dash wiring harness
What year/model vehicle is it?
The round part is your hazards flasher, the white square thing seems like the horn relay. You can pull the relay out (just tug on it) and test what doesn't work anymore. It should be the horn.
Hope this helps.

Re: dash wiring harness
the harness is from an 88 gta. thanks that does help, i just gotta figure out the blue one. there is also a cable from my shifter that runs upto teh steering column, i believe its the park/neutral switch. it has two connectors plugging into it, with about 10 different wires. from the wiring diagrams it looks like only two or three wires go to the p/n switch, and i keep following wires that are supposed to go other places and they go into these connectors. what gives? it just doesnt make sense. does anybody know where to find pin outs for the instrument cluster connectors? im about to do another search.

Re: dash wiring harness
The blue one might be the chime module (for open doors, lights on, seatbelt etc).
Cable from the shifter to the steering column? You mean a metal cable in a plastic sleeve? That's the ignition mechanical interlock - it won't let you take the key out unless the shifter is in Park or shift out of Park without a key.
The shifter should have only one switch with one connector on it. There are six wires on it - three pairs. Two thick wires (purple and green) are for the starter. Two middle wires (blue and green) are for the reverse lights. Two wires on the other end (orange/black and black/white) are for the ECM to know it's in gear.
Instrument cluster connectors are hard to find. Some people claim to have them but won't share them. Keep searching.
Hope this helps.

Re: dash wiring harness
ill check it out again tomorrow. thanks alot. does anyone have a picture of the connector to the winshield wiper motor? i dont have a connector and i cant find one, im thinking of just using slip on terminals, if i can figure out which wires go to which terminal on the motor.
Re: dash wiring harness
ok i need a little more help ive almost got all this figured out

ok i cant find a connector to fit this, its on my shifter. should be the gear selector switch right? any ideas?

from tracing wires this is a "headlight switch" but there are no switches on it and i have no idea where it mounts. the green and tan wires run to the front of the car to the headlights, and the other wire runs back to my actual headlight switch.

all my ignition switch wires run to this, is it mounted to the steering column on one of these levers? if so which one, i cant figure out how to mount it correctly.

from tracing wires this should plug into my gear selector switch but it definitely doesnt plug in anywhere...
if anyone can help at all i really appreciate it.

Re: dash wiring harness
the last pic looks like it is the plug from a manual trans neutral switch. the next one up for your ignition is mounted on the pass side of the steering column but the area to bolt is on the drivers side. the same area basically is the light switch which a metal rod connects to from the wiper pole thing on the steering column.. you will need wires going to the purple and yellow and there is probably a 2 plug underneath the car for the t5 trans that the wiring came out of that goes to your reverse lights.
Re: dash wiring harness
ok so can i get a connector to fit my shifter and splice the purple yellow wires into it, i am using a 700r4. ill go outside and try t mount the ignition switch and headlight switches now. thanks
Re: dash wiring harness
would anyone be able to help me wire the tcc? i cant find any info on this, except that it has to be wired using vacuum because im using the c950, which has no provision for the tcc. i have the switch that mounts to the brake pedal, but not sure where the wires head to or where im gonna get the vacuum? any help would be great
