head light problem and brights problem

well i have a 1991 firebird formula. i tried to use my brights a couple nights ago and i had to hold the turn signal switch to keep them on. well on my way home i noticed they were stuck on and i cant click them off? how do i fix that?

also my passanger headlight wouldnt go up all the way. so i found a thing online to were you can spin the headlight gear 180* and use the other side thats good. well when i was trying that it didnt work. so then i was holding my headlight up trying to get the arm back on to the motor. and i snapped the top of the headlight bracket on one side.

i found a guy who can give me a entire headlight assembly for 20$ thats motor, bracket, everything. but its from a 86 model. so can i use the motor and bracket tray and just swap everything else over?

i need to know by sunday b/c thats when im suppose to go buy it.

thanks. if something didnt make since. point it out and ill try to reexplain it.

Re: head light problem and brights problem

The dimmer problem is the switch - it needs readjusted - it's under the column all the way under above the brake pedal - youll see the rod that actiavates the switch moving - lay the seat back all the way down, get a small flashlight, and crawl in with your head in the floorboard, and your feet on the headrest on your back - it's a PITA, but that's where it's at. Oh - take a 7mm short wrench and socket/rachet with you!

Re: head light problem and brights problem

As Camaronewbie says, it's likely the adjustment of the dimmer switch. Article with the adjusting procedure here: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=16

Hope this helps.

The bulb? Yes.
The assembly with the motor? No.
