Same problem here...just replaced the cap/rotor/wires with Accel and new MSD Blaster coil. Anyone have an answer out there?

Re: pickup coil problems

I changed to a MSD 8366 Dizzy, MSD Blaster coil, and MSD 8.5 Wires last year.

My rpm needle jumped all over, sometimes got stuck at 7000rpm when cranking.

Turned out to be a bad pickupcoil and a bad ignition module (on the brand new MSD diszzy) Got them swapped out and the car was fixed.

So check the dizzy again, if either one of them are broken (module or pickup) and you change the module and its the pickup thats failing, you can break the new module. So be sure both are fine.

Also check all grounds and battery voltage when the problem acoours..
