Hatch motor not broken

A couple of weekends ago, after a car show, my trunk would not close, the motor seemed froze up, the reverse switch wouldn't work, etc. Thought I was going to have to replace the motor. Not having a garage I had to get the trunk shut, so I ended up using slight force and jammed the trunk shut, figuring I would deal with it later, kind of dumb I know, but no other choice with all the rain we have. Anyway, today I pulled out the tools to pull the motor. I noticed the trunk looked shut normally, so I turned my key and WHIR......the motor worked and the trunk now opens and closes normally again. Guess by jamming it down I forced the reverse switch to go back to normal position. If you are going to have to buy another motor anyway, what have you got to lose, try everything, no matter how dumb you think it is.....LOL Maybe this will help someone in the future, as I had read the other related threads and they led me to believe the assembly was fried.
