Tach problem

Tach problem
I am having problems with my tach. With the key off, the needle is pegged. When you crank it, it drops down to zero, then once it starts it goes back to pegged. Any ideas???

There is a tech article at home page I think. It tells about putting in a new resistor or diode I cant remember which, but I followed the steps and mine works perfect now. If you cant find it let me know and I,ll try to help more.

i just bought an 89 iroc, the tachometer doesnt work, the oil pressure gauge does not work, and also the speedometer doesnt work. the previous owner told me the speedometer used to work before he put the original 305 engine back in. i dont know how i can get them to work. PLEASE HELP ME!!
