any ideas?

my car does not have power seats, windows, defrost, hatch release, power mirrors, door locks. maybe it's for one of these?

manual transmission.

trying to figure out if i can use one of these for connecting 4th gen power seats.

Connector 2 is for the neutral safety switch, which incorporates back-up lights as well - you'll need it, so don't mess with it.

4th gen power seats are easy - just run a wire with an inline fuse from any empty slot in the fusebox, under the kick panel, under the carpet, out under the seat belt retractor, and up to the seat. Then, ground anywhere under the seat to the body - I attached my ground to a screw I put into the metal brace that holds the seat belt retractor.

would that conntector 2 only apply to automatic transmission? i don't think that piece has ever been connected in my car.

Maybe - it looks like mine (which is an auto) - but there has to be soe kind of safety switch in a manual car I would think - maybe a clutch safety switch on the clutch pedal - and there would be some sort of wiring at the gear shift for reverse lights.

See if anything on that connector 2 has 12v, and tap into it if it's easier for you.

The wire I ran from the fusebox I plugged into an empty BATT slot with a standard spade connector - that way I can adjust the power seat without having the key on, like when the short wife drives and doesn't return the seat back I can't get in to turn the key on, or when I'm vacuuming at the car wash I don't have to have the key on.

For the seats, I'll run the wire as you recommended. Still curious as to what those other connectors are for.

I started thinking the 2pin (connector 1 image) is for power seat option. It's getting 12v across them, but I think the wires are too thin too handle the current draw.

The large 6 pin connector goes to the automatic shifter. Strange you have it in a manual car. Leave it alone unless you have trouble starting the car or your backup lights are in-op

Orn/blk 2 pin connector is for your console light. Some cars didnt have this and the connector was left unplugged from the factory

The other small 2 pin connector should have a tiny light in the tip of the socket. It lit up your gear map on your shift plate

Wiring your power seats to battery 12v instead of IGN 12v is a great idea. I did so by accident several years back before I knew the difference when I installed power seats from a 2000. Much easier to clean the car
