power window button, 92 camaro

So my car does not have a power window button on the passenger side. I haven't got one yet but was wondering if there was a cheap way to rig this up? Also I was probably going to get one from a salvage yard or something so can someone show me a wiring diagram, Im having some trouble finding this, or just tell me how to hook it up? Thanks

Re: power window button, 92 camaro

Those switches are not that expensive new. So getting a switch is a cheap way to rig it.
But if you don't have a power window switch on the passenger side you're saying there is one on the drivers side? Its the factory set up? There should be two holes in the center console for the switches. If the drivers side is plugged in then there should be a plug in there for the passenger side.

Re: power window button, 92 camaro

The drivers side switch isn't factory, and is extremely fragile. I almost broke it trying to get a look at it. Also I believe there are extra wires poking around there so idk which ones to plug in. Im assuming some are for the trunk release button which is there but doest work. But then again with this car you never know, it has a lot of strange things going on that don't make any sense. Idk I just wanted to get someones opinion before I just started tearing into my car again, but thanks ill probably try and take a look again

Re: power window button, 92 camaro

There should have been plugs in the center console for the switches - but sounds like a PO destroyed that rigging something else in. Get switches (ebay, salvage yard, etc) and if there is a salvage yard close by, look for the connectors as well - you can splice them back in - that would be easy, you'd know what color wires to what on the connector if you cut the connector with a few inches of wires in tact.

Otherwise, there are wiring diags here - scroll down and look - just about everything for a 1992 car is lower in the listing: http://www.austinthirdgen.org/index.php?pid=19

Thanks, never thought of just checking the wiring at the yard, feel kinda stupid now. Well thanks for the help. I just didn't want to screw this up like I have with other things

Re: power window button, 92 camaro

I have a harness floating around my garage. Later on I can dig it out and snap a pic of the plugs so that way you can see if you have them inside the console somewhere. But if someone stuck another switch in there I am willing to bet at least that one has been cut out.

Re: power window button, 92 camaro

These are what the plugs should look like. I forget which was leaft and what right.
Those wire diagrams in that link provided are ok but they do not show the locations in the sockets of the wires. Each of the wires has a letter on the plugs A,B,C and D. So even if you get the switches and not the plugs and you end up using spade connectors let me know and I can tell you what wire goes where in the switches.
