Low fuel light is part of the dash; not the sender

"GM fuel sending units operate in a range between 0-90 ohms.
Zero ohms correlates to "empty" and 90 ohms correlates to "full
The low fuel light is energized when the sending unit provides a 10 ohm signal to the fuel gauge."

So you need to design some electronics to turn a light on at what ever Ohm value you wish
using the wire from the tank sender

Re: adding low fuel light?

The 77-82 corvette uses a three wire low fuel light. +,- and a 90-0 ohm signal. Seller on ebay has replacement light modules for $30.00. Sellers name is markohpe. If you buy the module from him just ask for the wire diagram for the light module. I have it on my 92 camaro and it works great. Hope it helps

Re: adding low fuel light?

VDO has already done all the hard work. They sell a make point switch in their marine line which is adjustable and will work with the stock gm senders ohm range, used it multiple times
