Turn signal issue?

Car: 1986 Firebird / 1991 Formula
Engine: 350 4BBL / 305 TPI
Transmission: 700 R4 / T 5
Axle/Gears: 9-Bolt Posi / 10 Bolt Posi
Turn signal issue?
So I swapped the tail lights on my 91 Formula from the stock tail lights to a set of 84 Trans Am tail lights. All the lights work, but the turn signals are now flashing very fast. I don't think that it is a ground issue, because I added a ground wire to each signal light, and it had the same issue. I recall at one point reading that the turn signal flasher is different for the base model tail lights vs. the trans am lights? Is this true, and if so, can someone give me a part number? Any other ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
