need help adding switches to trunk hatch motor

howdy. been trying to find a new trunk motor for the last few months, no luck on a working one. mine constantly runs (pulls down) if it is plugged in. i was going to add a switch to the red wire to blue wire connection that turns it on/off. then i realized if i did that, i would need an additional switch to bring the motor back up. i figure that switch would have to go between the relay and motor, on one of the 4 wires. wanting to find out which wire that would be. didnt have a diagram in my haynes, couldnt find one in here. sorry if this question is a repost of sorts. i'm trying to get this put on switches so i have better access to my trunk on my road trip this week. so dont knock me being ghetto haha. its just temp since my trunk is going to be loaded up to the glass for a few days. thanks guys.

Junk In The Trunk

You didn’t say if you’re looking for one from the yard or a reman but it’s the latter you can get one from Top-DownSolutions.com

However if you want to engineer a fix, what you need to know is: the switch reverses to polarity to the motor.

You can accomplish that with a double pole double throw center off switch.

The new switch will be wired between the motor and the Hatch Closed Switch present in the Pulldown assembly, therefore you will be electrically disconnecting the present switch.

Happy Racing!
