Transmission: 700r4 auto
Axle/Gears: 3.42\ posi 3.73
what is this wire really for (86 iroc)

Is it a ground and if so where does it go?

Isnt there somebody that can help i assumed it was a ground but when i attach it to a bolt lid closed then hit the brake the the brake light fuse blows PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME

Third brake light wire. Its hot when u hit the brakes, so dont ground it

So does it plug into something i would also like to mention that my defroster doesnt work either

Without popping out to the garage to look - IIRC correctly it should plug into a track printed on the hatch glass, next to the demister, which conveys the voltage up to the third brake light. The wire has broken off it's connector, which I'm betting is still connected to the glass.

The demister connection is via the struts. There should be a cable plugged into both ends of each strut IIRC.
