what are these wires for? help?
Hey guys, while trying to find out why on earth my rear defrost won't work (i have good ground, but no test light, so i tried tracing the wires) i came across some wires that have been cut by a previous owner, and something else that just isn't plugged in and i have no clue what these two things are..i really want to find out if this is whats causing my rear defrost to not work....youll have to excuse my crappy resolution.

nevermind on that last comment...google is an amazing thing.
that white plug i do not believe is the TCC plug, everything is already plugged in into my brake light switch. the wires coming out of that white one are pink with a black stripe and then purple. any ideas?
what about the other one?

Re: what are these wires for? help?
on that unknown plug...looks like somebody connected the two ports on it by jamming a "U" shaped piece of wire in there so it connects the circuit or something....would that accomplish anything?

Re: what are these wires for? help?
lt1zr28, i appreciate it man!
ok, the color of the wires i do believe are green, grey with green stripe, black and brown-ish tan.
the wires plugged into my brake light switch are orange blue and yellow in one plug and grey and what looks like brown in the other plug.
the reason i believe everything is plugged into the brake light switch is because i looked all over it, there aren't any open ports..plus, the original one was broken so i bought a replacement, it was the exact same thing and the same plugins that came off the original clicked right into place on the replacement.
I wouldn't call my car butchered either, this seems to be the only thing I've found that was either cut, or something wasn't plugged in right (other then the stereo system, PO obviously didn't know crap about sound systems)

Re: what are these wires for? help?
I found out there are different style brake switches. both have the same style top plug, but the back plug styles are different. one has two prongs and that style fits the mysterious plug i have, the other style is is the one i have on my car...and i also have the plug for that one.
I'm thinking when they made these cars, they wired both plug styles so you can use either one.

Re: what are these wires for? help?
im not talking manual vs. auto. Its cruise control vs. non-cruise control.
I found they have different switches for that. so maybe GM put both plugs in for the sake of ease of installation, and that way there wasn't a special wiring harness for the cars ordered with cruise control delete.

Could it be the connector for the bose kick panel speaker box? I think I remember the plug being in a recessed place in the box.

Re: what are these wires for? help?
but in any case the plug you have disconnected , as shown by the wire colors in the circuit diagram , is for the TCC

Re: what are these wires for? help?
I have an iroc that came with the bose system and the kick panels were boxes with the speaker and amp all made in the kick panel. They had a square plug that fit in a square slot in the back of the kick panel and I think it looked just like the plug in your picture. The bose system had speakers in both kick panels and the rear deck cover that was also lockable. I put infinity speakers in mine and a kenwood deck. I also put speakers in the dash (plates) and also 6x9s in the sail panel and it turned out to be an awesome system. The bose system didn't work very well and the little amps weren't very reliable but it was a good idea and I like the lockable storage lid in the back. The 91-92 rear deck lids had bigger 6.5 inch speakers. If you can find your rpo codes I think it was U code but I can't remember it. Try not to cut it since a lot of guys try to add the bose option.
