Are the fuel pump and coolng fan relay wiring connectors the same?
I've got a 92 camaro rs with the 305/5 speed setup. driving home today and car started overheating so i pulled over to check some things out and found the cooling fan relay melted along with the connector!!! I've located a new connector, but i believe it is for the fuel pump wiring judging by the wire colors. I know that the relays are the same but i thought the cooling fan relay had larger guage wires so my question is, will the fuel pump pigtail connector work in place of the cooling fan pigtail connector or will i risk frying it too? Thanks in advance for any help.

You risk frying it. The fan pulls a lot more amps than the fuel pump. You can fuse it (protect the wires), and just replace fuses (frequently). Best bet though, is to use the heavier gauge wire.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking too. Also the previous owner was using a 30A fuse! No wonder the wires fried and didn't pop the fuse. Idiot
