No power to headlight motors

When I first bought my car, the headlight motors would spin, but the lights would not go up. Now it is at the point where the motors don't spin at all with the headlight switch. I thought they may have gone bad completely, but I powered them with a power probe, and they both work, in both directions. Does any one have an idea as to why they aren't getting power?

On another note, the headlight doors don't budge when I pull on them at the same time the motors are spinning. I heard you should be able to pull the doors up with the motors spinning. I managed to do it at one point, but they are frozen now. Again, any ideas as to why?

Re: No power to headlight motors

Might need to buy a headlight motor rebuild kit. Easy to do. They are not to expensive.

Also, the headlight module might be "finnicky" like mine. Next time you turn on your headlights, and they don't come on, tap the headlight control module. The box is just inside the brake booster with two connectors coming out and a square in between them. Thats what I have to do when mine don't come up.

Re: No power to headlight motors

Try the gear rebuild set, most of my buddy said this is great to fix the gear. My Trans am has the same problem that motor spin but not flip the head light. so i leave the headlight up and unplug the motor. waiting for the headlight conversion to HID and fix the gear in the same time. Also check the fuse

Re: No power to headlight motors

I took car of the motors today. The bushings were completely shattered. The motors now function perfectly. I think the problem is the headlight module; I tapped it and one of the headlights came up. Then it ceased to function altogether.

Re: No power to headlight motors

Problem solved. Found this thread.

Took apart the module, fixed the broken solder joints. The headlights both work flawlessly now. It's pretty damn exciting seeing the headlights come up on their own for the first time in the 5 years I've owned the car.
