how do i get my trunk motor to stay up so i can lock it down

I replaced all the component's on the motor its self the when I tried to install it back in but some how its in the down position now my trunk can pop open if I hit a bump or rail road track... confused because before It was in the up position and I could lock it and unlock with no power to the unit.

Please help

is there power going to the hatch motor? if its all the way down it wont catch at all as I had the same issue over the winter when I pulled my battery and the hatch would never latch down properly. If need be you can adjust it with the 3 bolts that wold it to the body

right in the middle where the "hook" goes to lock down, there should be a "trigger" arm that if you bump it with a screwdriver, will reverse the motor in the "up" position so you can lock 'er down.
