positive battery cable routing question

I have an 84 Z28 and swapped an LT1 into it. I dont think the engine swap matters much since it is still a 350 small block (yes I had a 305 origionally). The problem is that I am ru nning some Hedman shroty headers and my positive battery wire to the starter keeps touching the headers and grounding out. Where should I run it?
Currently it runs beside the frame and then down to the starter. How can I place it so that it does not touch the headers. Can I run it under the headers completely from the front, near the engine mounts?

Re: positive battery cable routing question

I run a BBC and I first run the positive cable through a section of hose and then next to the motor mount using zip ties to secure it along the way. Far away from the exhaust.

Re: positive battery cable routing question

My battery is on the driver's side, so it may route a bit differently, but my cable is zip-tied to the front sway bar and the runs between my headers and the block to the starter. Haven't had any problems yet.

Re: positive battery cable routing question

I run it through a rubber hose a little larger than the cable for extra protection.

Re: positive battery cable routing question

I'd personally run the cable along the oil pan, using the oil pan bolts to hold p clamps. Route the wire around the back of the block, under the pan to the starter. This will keep it out of harm's way. But, if you drag race, you may have to protect the cable from the balancer IIRC.
