Ok I've finally got my SLP's up for sale, they're 1 3/4" w/o air tubes. I've also got a highflow 3" cat and the y pipe/ crossover tube that can go with it. I'll post pics of the cat/ypipe this weekend. I'm asking 350 plus shipping obo.

Are they coated (they look coated but could also be new uncoated??)
Whats the reason for selling them (if you dont mind
Also they arent warped or bent (steering column clearance on drivers side) in any way are they?
Let me know as I would only be interested in just the headers only...

not warped or bent, yes they are clearenced on the drivers side for the steering shaft, and they are also coated, there is a polish from eastwood to polish ceramic coated items, which they could probably use but I don't need them shiney. I am selling them because I got a pair of used heads with angle plugs and these headers don't jive with full angle plugs so I had to go with long tubes. I would rather use these stainless pieces but unless I buy different heads it's not gonna work out so my loss is your gain.

SLP Headers
I will need 2 weeks actually before I can commit (next paycheck)
Ive got a set of SLPs uncoated with the air holes welded over so they look like *** unfortunately and one of the flanges at the heads is warped...
This week my car is going in for dual exhaust so this week's paycheck is gone.
If you still have them Monday 4th of September i'll firm up the details and we can work out how you want to be paid for them.
If they go out before that good on ya but would still like to get ahold of em when that date rolls around.
Thanks for the reply on the condition and I will check back on the 4th.

Ok. I'm interested in purchasing these headers, but first I have a question.
First, will they work fine with Vortec heads on a 96-97 1-pc truck block 350?
I believe the headers on the motor now were the same headers that came with the truck motor. In any sense, I was out at the track on saturday when I realized the heat from the header was melting the steering shaft on the driver's side. I've only owned the car for about 3 weeks and I didn't know headers must be clearenced and obviously...these one are not! This brings up two questions.
#1 I'm assuming if the headers are clearanced this "melting" wouldn't be a problem...correct?
#2 What do I do about the steering shaft? The damage isn't "critical" but it is definitely melted.
i'm thinking with a nice set of SLPs clearanced, coated, and wrapped I should completely avoid any heat-related issues. Opinions welcome.
And 91RamAir Formula...I am interested in your headers (obviously) but like merc3065...I'm waiting for a paycheck or two. I'll let you know asap.

The headers should be clearanced to the engine bay they are going into.
The only reason these ones have been clearanced was to avoid hitting the steering column. Thirdgens and 1 3/4" SLPs have had a bit of a reputation of sometimes hitting the steering column due to the engine shifting on the motor mounts, or worn/sagging motor mounts causing the engine to sag a little more in the engine bay as well as possibly shift slightly to one side or the other.
They "should" fit as long as the bolt holes line up but I don't know if they will cause header/spark plug clearance issues. Apparantly since Vortec heads use a straight plug design, they cause those clearance issues between the header and the spark plug boot causing them to get melted and then misfire and all sorts of wonderful stuff...
Also, generally you don't need to wrap coated headers because the coating drops the surface temp of the headers quite a bit, something like 100-200F? i dont know but its noticeable with a laser temp gauge.
As for melting, thats probably the plastic that is melting just from the radiant heat that the headers are kicking off. So the clearancing thats been done on these headers more than likely wont help in that respect since they are only dented on the drivers side to clear the steering column. (correct me if im wrong though )
Ask around/search on the exhaust board to see if the headers will fit on the vortec heads?
