T56 cable drive speedometer tail housing

T56 tail housing modified to run a mechanical speedometer. Includes modified tail housing, new speedometer gear sleeve, hold down tab, and a set of speedometer gears to match your gear ratio/tire size. Or if you are replacing a T5, you can use your existing gears. This conversion uses stock GM T5 gears that are readily available.

I have a couple of different gear sets in stock, but if I don't have the ones you need I'll have them drop shipped to you. This is a 93-96 style housing with thrust washers on the reverse idler gear. This conversion does not disable the stock VSS setup, and unlike other conversions available you do not have to remove the front torque arm mount to change the speedometer driven gear.

I can include the reverse idler gear at no charge so this can be used on all LT1 and LS1 style transmissions. Price is $425 outright, or $300 exchange with your tail housing plus $25 shipping for UPS ground. I can also do the conversion on your tail housing for $325 plus $25 for shipping in the lower 48 states.

Second pic shows how the speedometer drive gear fits on the main shaft, and third pic shows the differences in the different year tail housings.

Re: T56 cable drive speedometer tail housing

I'm just glad all of you are happy with my work. I originally figured this out for my T56, and I realized I had all the designs, fixtures, and tooling paid for, so why not offer this as a service to fellow hot rodders. You guys have been good to me and the extra $$$ I make have allowed me to further my own 3rd gen to a higher level.

Next mod is a new vortec headed 355 going in it!!!

Thanks again guys.

Dan
