i'm lookin for a motor to put in my 91 RS....
I want either a 350 or 400 small block....

does anyone have any idea where I can get one of these....

either to rebuild or rebuilt already.... either way i want a decent motor... no cracks or warps please...

now i live in southwest va and am willing to travel a bit... anyone have any ideas????

What exactly do you want? Would you prefer to keep the stock converter and gears? What are the stock gears? If you want low end power that is easy and cheap, whereas high end power is expensive and you must change converters and usually gears to match the new engine.

well i just want a decent street motor

i was thinking a 350 bored .040 with a bigger cam (not sure which)

right now I have stock trans and converter and stock rear gears...
they are 2.73 open right now...
I plan to change that to something lower but I can't right now...

that is what I was thinking....

Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never Never overbore an engine unless it is absolutely necessary. Most of the time touching it with the hone will clean it up. You stroke engines for more cubes, not bore them out.

Well one of my blocks needs bored out and it just happens that I have a set of .40 over flattop pistons brand new in the box. If you want to stick with a roller cam then the Hotcam is my recommendation and it will run very well if you use anything but stock heads. Is your car still fuel injected and if so do you want to keep it that way? ALtogether a set of Vortech heads the cam and a rebuild kit will run you about $1500 if you want just a strong street 350.

ok, i'm gonna be straight with you...

right now I have 1000 dollars to spend on this motor....
so, i'm thinking that I can get the motor, bore it, and get the cam and rebuild kit for that... i know that stock heads are gonna really really suck, but they will have to do for a while....

my g/f is going to college soon and I will have a lot more money to spend on my car.... so heads are in the plan, just not right now....

whatcha think???

now lets be realistic here... i'm not a money tree

If you use a good cam it will make good power without the heads for now. My 383 was good for low 13's with stock 093 heads until I bought the Vortech's. You could get it done for a $1000 relatively easy.

now, how much should I pay for a 350 motor... I need the whole motor for the parts in it.... heads, oil pan, all of that stuff that can nickle and dime you to death... you know....

so how much for one that needs rebuilt???

Check E-bay! THey have lots of CHEAP, good motors ready to go! They're also making some pretty impressive HP numbers. Pay the shipping, or go pick it up if you want, and then just drop it in your car.(obviously for a complete motor). But there are lots of blocks for sale also....

If your not in a hurry check around with dealerships and shops that might come across what you want. I gave $50 for a complete 350 at a dealer.
