Anyone who knows anything about LS1 swaps please enter
I'm contemplating the idea of an LS1 into my 'bird. From the info i've gathered so far, i'll need the following:
LS1 motor itself
Tranny, T56 or 4L60E,
computer
wiring harness
tranny crossmember
modified motor mounts
I found a company, Speartech.com, and they make the wiring harness for the swap. The only problem is that its 900$! Can i use the stock LS1 harness and somehow splice it in to the rest of the cars electronics? How have you guys gone around and dealt with this problem?
Next is the motor mounts. I know that there are some companies that make adapter plates for the swap, but how hard is it really to make some adapters? What exactly has to be changed?
The only thing holding me back is this whole wiring harness situation. I work at an LS1 shop, so i have access to lots of goodies so i have that on my side. Any help would be appreciated. If any of you fellas that have done the swap could help, feel free to IM me or email me please. Thanx

Car: 87 IROC-Z
Engine: 2002 LS6
Transmission: 6 speed
Axle/Gears: 4-11
go to my website and read how to make the engine mounts.
it is possible to interface the engine with out a aftermarket harness. I bought one 2 years ago, and sometime in the future I plan on removing it and wiring it direct.
all you need is the shop manual for the year engine you have, and then study the computer pinout and the other accessories that are involved ( cooling fans, guages, fuel pump, cruise control, air conditioning, etc.)
dont forget to read the sticky post, especially near the end of the thread.

From what I have seen and heard, it is pretty much cost prohibitive. The only thing I could think that would make it practical is if you got the powertrain for super cheap, but I doubt that will be easy to come by.
BTW, there is an LS1 shop in the area? Where are you working at bro, that sounds interesting.
