SERIOUS Project 400 Swap
Ok I know ya hear about it all the time and most people are just curious, but im SERIOUS. I am looking to throw away the old ragged 2.8L 6 5 spd and throw (i know a little more is involved) a Chevy 400 into it. It will be a carbed setup and an automatic will go in (cant seem to find a V8 T5). So that leaves me with many LITTLE things to change I know but Im not worried. Car is currently fuel injected, so how do I managage fuel delivery?
Can I just draw past the in-tank pump with a manual pump?
I know springs will need to be changed, but im due for new ones anyways, Is there anything else that needs to be changed as far as suspension goes?
Motor mounts...what are the best ones to use? Can I just take them out of the van im getting the motor out of?
Transmission crossmember and mount...will the manual trans parts be compatible with the auto? Any idea what model the trans will probably be? It's a 1980's Chevy Van.
Computer...Just leve the wires under the hood hangin and take ot ye old check engine light right?
And last (I think) but not leasty, driveshaft....Am I gonna hafta find a donor? I can have a buddy of mine make an excellent one for about 30 bucks.
Thanks a million guys, I am very serious about doing this and yes I have a good job (thats where all the work will be done).

Car: 86 camaro

Transmission: jw powerglide 5500 coan stall

1. some people use the stock pump and regulate it down, i sumped my tank and added a holley blue. 2. i used the stock springs 3. i ordered the mounts for a v8 car , heard that camaro ones are shorter?4 i went with a th350 and i got a driveshaft from a full size chevy and had it shortened. check your block to see what kind of starter its drilled for . have it redrilled for the inline pattern if its not now , like mine was, save you some time and money on a mini starter . i needed a mini starter for header clearence and had to use an expensive 502 gm starter.
