Looking to build an all-around "fun" motor
After reading many of these message boards, I am getting a headache as to what kind of motor to build. I will be starting from scratch, so any motor will work. Now, to start things off, I am not looking for an all-out performance engine. Nor am I looking to beat every Mustang I come across (although I wouldn't mind it!) I am looking for a motor that will be fun to drive. I would like to retain most of the emissions controls (i.e. cats, air tubes) (although not required where I live) on the car and the tuned port fuel injection. This will be a daily driver, and I am on a somewhat limited budget. I would like to have an exhaust tone like some of the mustangs running around town have. I would like the torque to put my passengers back into their seats, but would like the motor to hold rpm's if I so desire (Say, 7000RPM). I will not likely make many trips to the drag strip, just an around town cruiser. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

carbed 350 and 7000 rpm is sort of unneed and out of range for what most would consider a street engine. go with a 3:73 or so gear set and you'll feel the torque a lot more than most factory installed ratios
