Can 305 be stroked to 350

I have an 87 iroc z with the factory 305 TPI motor (305 if I remember correctly, I'm still new to the camaro club). Anyways, simple question, can the factory motor easily be stroked to a 350 with the use of a 350 rotating assembly or will it not work. I think I remember something about the main journal being different sizes? And can you tell me if the motors are 2 or 4 bolt main?

i dunno roo much about this subject so i probably shouldn't be leaving any information but as far as i know you can't stroke a 305 to 350 or else it would have been done planty of times and you would know about it and also i'm pretty sure the 305's are 2 bolt mains

The difference between a 305 and a 350 cubic inch small block chevy engine is in the bore size. A 305 has a 3.73" bore, and a 350 has a 4" bore. The bore is the size of the cylinders. The stroke is the same on both, 3.48". So, no you cannot stroke a 305 and make it a 350. Also, you cannot bore out a 305 to make a 350, as there is not enough space to make the cylinders larger without cutting right through them into the water passages.
Also, stroking a 305 with a crank from a 400 engine is like polishing a turd. The 305 already makes plenty of torque, but it lacks in horsepower ability because of the small bore size. That small bore size also limits the heads you can safely use on it.
Your best bet is to junk your 305 and put in a 350 engine, preferably a later model roller engine like you currently have. The benefits of them are worth the extra cost.

Go with a 350 atleast. The problem with a 305 is the small bore limits you to small valves. Those smal valves can't even flow that well because they are shrouded by the cylinder wall. Dollar for dollar stroking a 305 is a bad idea.
