305 TPI computer setup question

2 weeks ago me and my dad finally got around to working on my car (i had it for 4 days last july and i threw a rod and f-ed up the transmission, the thing apparently didnt cool down and it overheated on me badly, but enough of the sad stuff) so i ended up purchasing a jasper class 1 engine block (305ci) and im swapping everything over from the old motor, and basically replacing all the bad and worn stuff in the process (new injectors, y pipe, cleaning teh throttlebody, and intake, etc,) also getting rid of my A/C because i dont feel like converting the system to modern day standards,

but heres my question, the air pump/smog pump setup on the old engine was missing alot of tubing and what was there is rotted away, and they dont make that part any more (according to NAPA and 2 Chevy Dealers around here) so we are doing away with the smog pump system, therefore, would getting rid of that system interfere with the way the computer reads teh engine, and if so, would it be in a bad enough way where i would need a new computer system?

No problem. Just leave it off, block off what you remove.

Too bad you didn't just get a 350 engine. In fact, before you go any further, take the 305 back and get a 350. Regardless of how far you are, it's the smart move.

And, don't replace the y-pipe - get headers with a y-pipe like Hooker 2055HKR's.

Enough of the preachin' . . .

Re: 305 TPI computer setup question

thnx, but ive definatly gone too far, lol, but ill definatly look into the hooker headers though

ive tried my best to convince my dad about the 350, i know u can swap the TPI setup over, basically no hassle, just only like 4 major things (like the ECM, PROM, Knock Sensor, and something else) but we got a bitchin price for this motor and trans, (basically we got the transmission and this installation package (hoses, wires, plugs, waterpump etc...) for free, because my dad knows this guy and i paid cash, lol)
